As for the USCCB podcast. I can’t believe they spent $30,000 dollars to do it, but they did. Brian Noe did it out of an out of charity and to much better effect. He has a great voice.

The USCCB one does not even say which day it is for at the beginning of it and there RSS feed is for a whole months worth instead of releasing them the day before. The music for the Sunday versions are awful. They should have simply given Brian permission to use the NAB (even though it is far inferior) and then linked to his podcast on the USCCB site instead of wasting so much money at a time when they are reducing staff and budget.

As we discuss the issue of the church approaching media, it seems that subsidiarity is coming into play. However, although it seems that the Bishops should undertake a podcast or other large scale items, but each time they do it fails miserably. On the other hand when a little nun from Alabama undertakes a mission (perhaps a vocation), or an ministry, it flourishes. It will also be intresting to see what happens with the new catholic channel on Sirius.

I think the issue with the bishops council might be this. The USCCB is a governing body and as such they loose somthing. They issue documents which have do have good theological meaning. However, they seem to loose somthing of the church’s mission. There is some element of “just get this out there” which itself is devoid of Charity. If you are just “putting out there” you are failing the Christian vocation. Basiclly there is somting lacking in the approach I think, dioceses, and smaller organizations can avoid.
