    Dear Sirs,
The young man who wrote you the letter asking about homosexuality for your March 11th show mentioned that he was excluded from the priesthood as well as marriage. Therefore, I was disappointed that in your discussion, you failed to explain why a homosexually inclined man who has been chaste and is perfectly willing to take a vow of celibacy is not permitted to become a priest due to his sexual orientation alone. Presumably, heterosexually inclined priests experience “attractions” to women which are not sinful as long as they keep their vows of celibacy. Likewise, the church tells us that homosexual people are not sinful, only homosexual acts are. Why then are they not permitted to become priests according to the latest word on the matter from the vatican? As far as I can see, the church’s whole position about only the act being sinful and not the person, and that everything is perfectly fine with a homosexual person as long as he/she is chaste is blown out of the water with the exclusion of these same individuals from the priesthood.
