Episode 55: AEE!$

Who can really say what we chat about this week? Monitors so solid you can eat (sushi) off of them, China putting the nix on your travel rosary, Microsoft “patents” the iPhone, videogames as a ministry tool, picks of the week, a very special backChat, and merch.

I too think Apple not updating older iPods with at least some of the new enhancements to be a poor decision.

Now I really don’t care about coverflow, with 10,000 pls songs on my iPod i wouldn’t find it to be useful. And there might be a question about older iPods not having a fast enough processors since the Classic and other new iPod models use a different processor than previous version.

Though I can’t see any reason for the new split screen interface to be used for older models, especially since the latest hack does just that.

One thing I found annoying about iPods is that they come with less and less accessories. Originally they would ship with a dock. These are of course very cheap to produce yet they stopped including them and started charging a good amount for a piece of plastic and a cable. When I got my 4G iPod it came with a wall adapter and a USB cable to charge it up with a regular socket. When I got my wife a 5G model it just had the USB cable and they charge 20 bucks just for the socket adapter.

By the way since I got my first Apple computer, an iMac, last week I have had the strangest urge to look forward to a Steve Job’s keynote addresses. I think subliminal programming is involved somewhere in OSX. Though I am not a switcher, but a slider and my iMac and my PC and multiple monitors (though thanks to Synergy one keyboard and mouse) live in peace on my desktop. The Apple lies down with the PC.

By the way the Commodore certainly did have joysticks and Castle Wolfenstein was on the C64.

I went to Starkovich’s Rome. I enjoyed the blog and the pictures but I noticed that it had not been updated since August. Also when I tried to subscribe to the RSS feed it said that is was not available. Do you guys know what is up with the site. It would be pretty cool to follow his journey toward the priesthood plus his adventures in the motherland.

    God Bless

Word up my padres and lay-dres. . . Would like to congradulate Joshua on a fabulous pick of the week! I’ve just today finished the book, as a matter of fact a few short hours ago, in all it’s glory. Granted I am doing a lecture series along with it and have an exam next week but still. Perhaps sometime we can chat about it. As for now I have to study like a madman. peace, – J
