When it comes to culture, Obama doesn’t have a public agenda; he has a public anti-agenda. He wants to remove culture from the political debate. He wants to cut our three-sided political game back down to two… . culture wars do end. In the 1920s, immigration, Darwinism, and the Ku Klux Klan dominated political debate, but in the 1930s, they receded as Washington turned its attention to the Depression and the specter of war. It is no surprise that the end of the last culture war coincided with a shift from conservative to liberal dominance. If Obama can end this one, liberals may be in power for a very long time.

So you’ve probably seen this excellent ad. NBC said it was not worthy of being aired during the superbowl. Pass this around – let’s see if we can get as many eyes on it via the web!

May ‘political’ interpretations of the ecclesial community which aim only to divide the Body of Christ into traditional and progressive be put aside once and for all. Let us leave this to the world. We belong to Christ. Do we not seek dialogue and reconciliation? Or are we only ecumenical on alternate current?

Fr. Arentsen on Abortion from March 1974

The following article was reprinted in the March 28,1974 edition of the “Democrat Argus” newspaper in Missouri. Thanks to CGP for clipping and saving!

Thanks through time to Fr. Arentsen for telling it like it is!

The U.S.A. adopted abortion in Jan. 1973. Is it good, or is it bad?

Abortion came to Germany before 1900. Euthanasia arrived by 1920. By 1938, Germany erected the first gas chambers. Pediatricians first did away with defective children. Later they put to death children who bed-wetters, who had misshaped ears, learning disabilities, etc.

Later the old age homes were cleaned out. Private homes were invaded, and elderly people who were a little forgetful were taken away. All the WWI amputees were also done away with.

Then Hitler took over the gas chambers. He killed off all the Gypsies on the German
countryside. And more than 6 million Jews. The U.S.A. sat in judgment over the Germans at the Nuremberg Trials. A condemned and anguished Nazi judge said, “I never knew it would come to this.” The American judge answered simply, “It came to this the first time you condemned an innocent life.”

Abortion came to Germany. Now it is here. Do we turn back? Or what country will sit
over us at the Washington Trials? But do not worry. By that time, they will have done away with you.

Fr. Edwin Arentsen

Keep in mind, this was written in 1974 before Americans became stupid enough to pretend that Abortion is more of a political issue than it is a moral\religious\cultural issue. It’s killed more than one culture and ours is clearly well on it’s way… The time for prayer is now!
