Life is Still Worth Living, Ep 35, Words and Deeds

US Catholics are, more and more, facing an identity crisis. Many Catholics don’t believe that the Church teaches truth. Many Catholics “disagree” with the teachings of scripture and even the words of Jesus. We’re facing a serious struggle and, in the end, our hearts are proven by our deeds and not just our words.

Episode 107 Shownotes

On this Week’s Show…

The Pope is in a cast! And we also get into the topic of Marian Apparitions, lots of shownotes here. The spiritual director of the mystics in Medjugorje has now been officially laicized. Wikipedia has a pretty good article listing major Marian Apparitions through history.

Episode 106 Shownotes

On this Week’s Show… A Whole Lot of Fr. Ryan!

Everybody is on hiatus and so Fr. Ryan is doing a solo show. The first half of the show is all Caritas In Veritate, Pope Benedict’s third encyclical to the Church in which he lays out what real social justice is all about.

Father also went to town on the latest novel from Pierce Paul Reid, The Death of a Pope. The book is certainly entertaining, but it also – unintentionally, we’re sure – ends us being a propoganda piece for every anti-Catholic agenda out there (abortion, contraception, fornication, adultery, married priesthood, female priesthood, terrorism, etc). We’re not really sure why everyone seems to love it so much.

Episode 105 Shownotes

On this Week’s Show…

PBS has been naughty! They’ve decided to block all religious programming – so much for the 1st amendment. Also, a moment of prayer for the recently deceased: Ed McMahon, Billy Mays, Farrah Fawcett and Michael Jackson.

Wonder why I haven’t been blogging?

Hey everyone. I’ve been holding off on the blogging because CatholicUnderground.com is getting ready to migrate to a really snazzy new design which will include a new blog for me. Links to this page will auto-redirect and everything should be pretty darn seamless. We’re hoping that the changeover will happen soon, so keep checking back or repoint your links to http://www.catholicunderground.com/fatherryan

The new blog will include post of my past stuff from this blog as well as some new content types which will be part of the magic of the new & improved CU page.

Thanks & God Bless

Fr.R
