CU Episode 184: Will the Catholics Please Stand?

In our first episode of the new year, we talk about digital strategies for the Catholic Church in the United States, Social Media as a possible Catholic Media killer, defense of life with dental floss, Film as a way to have “The Great Discussion”, and how to shore up weak faith….we’re looking at you Ireland!  All this, a bit more, and our picks of the week!

Hello! I heard Fr. Decker talk about a catholic comic strip on this episode, but I don’t see the link in the show notes. What was that website address? Thank you and God bless!

Hi, Mary Ellen. Thanks for catching that! It’ll be in the show notes momentarily, but here it is with no waiting: http://greetingsfromgracieland.com/ What a great comic it is!

    Fr. Ryan,

Braveheart may have been a great cinematic experience, but it was very bad history and really quite racist and homophobic.

As a Catholic Scot who happily applauded the movie, and someone who stands firmly behind the Church’s teachings on sexuality I have to admit that on reflection the underlying messages behind the film are less than Christian.

Independence may be our goal and while many of us deplore our government’s attempts to equate same sex unions with marriage we are compelled by the gospel to adopt a somewhat more charitable approach than that advocated by a very poorly researched film about one of our great National icons.

Entertaining it was, but I am a little surprised that a Catholic priest should find it inspirational.

I listened to 3 episodes back to back today. Loved the one with the chewing gum incident! It was so timely too. Reminded me of another recent news event where a conductor stopped his symphony because someone’s cell phone went off. Love you guys!
